Boordy Vineyard Gathering

Boordy Vineyard

On October 2, Board members, friends, and staff of the Harry R. Hughes Center for Agro-Ecology gathered at Boordy Vineyards in Hydes, Maryland for a celebration of Maryland agriculture. The festive evening included a delicious buffet featuring fruits, vegetables, and meats from the region's farms and a selection of Boordy's award winning wines.

Gov. Hughes addresses guestsA short program highlighting the Center's history and current projects included presentations by the Center's founder, former Governor Harry R. Hughes, and Executive Director Russ Brinsfield. Senator Barbara Mikulski, a longtime supporter, also sent a letter congratulating the Center on its ten-year record of sponsoring crucial scientific research and policy analysis to benefit Maryland's farmers and foresters. You can read the Senator's letter below.

guests enjoy the event During the course of the evening, guests also learned that more than $175,000 has been raised for the Harry R. Hughes Endowed Fellowship Fund. The Endowed Fellowship Fund will provide exceptional scholars and graduate students an opportunity to research a key issue or issues affecting agriculture and forestry (the working lands) in Maryland and to work with stakeholder groups during the process.
